We provide a unique support service for young people and their families living with cancer in Hawke’s Bay.
Established in 2019, The Acorn Project is a non-profit organisation.
We are here for you
The Acorn Project is made up of a team of dedicated youth workers and volunteers who bring a wide range of experiences and skills to help you and your whanau through this time.
We are local and ready to support whenever or wherever you need, whether in our shared space on Queen Street Hastings, out in the community, at hospitals or health centres, or at your home.
Our support is authentic, independent and tailored for you.
We are here for you and your whānau - whether you have just received a diagnosis, are going through treatment or palliative care, celebrating a return to health or grieving.
Every member of our team is police vetted and meets our high standards of professionalism and integrity.
WE ARE RICH
The Acorn Project’s R.I.C.H values help us make decisions, guide the way we provide our support, and underpin the way everyone interacts with each other. Our values are:
We are respectful
We respect ourselves, each other, and the environment.
We are INCLUSIVE
We encourage everyone to participate and make sure everyone feels welcome. There is no hierarchy; everyone is equal.
We are COURAGEOUS
We are courageous in everything we do, acknowledging when we make mistakes, asking for help, support and choosing courage over comfort when we make decisions for ourselves and others.
We are HONEST
We are honest at all times even when it is not always comfortable; this enables growth and empowerment with kindness.
